Makes ~14 biscuits
Ingredients
Biscuits:
- 3 cups (430g) flour
- 3 tsp (9g) baking powder
- 1tbsp (14g) sugar
- 1tsp (5g) salt
- 3/4tsp (3g) cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup (113g) cold unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 (100g) cups of shredded sharp cheddar
- 1 1/4 (340g) cups whole milk
- 2-3 garlic cloves (minced)
Glaze:
- 1/4 cup (57g) unsalted butter
- A few pinches of fresh parsley
- 1 garlic clove (minced)
Instructions
Dough
- Preheat oven to 450°F
- In a large-ish bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar
- Cut up butter into smaller chunks, add to bowl, and with clean hands mash together with dry ingredients until you get crumbs
- Shred your block of cheddar and add it in
- Add in garlic
- Stir in milk. Dough should be uniformly moist (make sure there are no overly dry/wet spots)
Bake
- Grease baking trays
- With wet hands scoop out just under a handful of dough, roll into balls and space 2-3in apart lightly pressing down on top of ball
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden
Glaze
- Melt butter, add in parsley and garlic
- With a brush, apply mixture to biscuits
